City of Rochester Public Market is hands down my favorite place in the city. I love outdoor (farmers) markets and by far this one is in my top list.

Other than the great fresh fruits, veggies and herbs, there is so much more you can get there. You can find fresh meat, fresh fish and a large variety of sea food. There are the mandatory stands selling cheap home goods and a bunch of things that no one needs but everybody buys...

The market is open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It starts at 8am and it is open until 2pm - so there is plenty of time for all the fun things there. Other than getting your groceries there, the market gives a good platform for many organizations to promote their ideas and young businesses to bring awareness of their products/services. It is also a great opportunity for locals to get in touch with there community.

On Saturdays it can get a little crazy with people, especially when the weather finally gets warm but it should be much better on weekdays. I was told that there are also price differences, having them boosted up a little bit for the weekend. Yet, the prices are much better than those in the grocery stores and the variety much bigger. And it is sooo much fun to shop in fresh air :)

There are really good coffee shops you can stop by for delicious coffee, tea, or chai, and where you can also buy some freshly roasted coffee beans. One of them is the Java's, which shares space with the restaurant Cure. Cure is a hip small restaurant with French cuisine and great dishes "to share". Another nice spot is "The Best Coffee at the market". It is such a cute place and sometimes they have a live band playing right outside. The perfect spot to collect some sunlight and enjoy some music.

Some great restaurants, which get fresh products from the local farmers, cheese stores, and bakeries, are located at the market.

But the highlight of the market are probably the breakfast spots. There are quite a few but my absolute favorite one is Skott's II. They make the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever tried in Rochester! They have different versions of the sandwiches but I bet they all taste as good as my winner - egg, cheese, and bacon.

I think I might have partially figured out what their secret is - the bread! It is great, and also the amount of butter they use when they prepare the sandwich.

Scott's II also have lunch and dinner meals, and they all look fantastic. Make sure you check it out!

So many reasons to visit the Public Market and it is downtown, so shame on you if you don't check it out ;)

Keep it local, folks!
